How to acquire new media (video, CD, DVD, film, etc.)

We may have it -- check the UCDavis Film and Video Library Search. If you have determined that the desired media is not available, there are two options for obtaining it:

A. UIIP minigrant program:

  1. Contact the Teaching Resources Center trc@ucdavis.edu 530-752-6050 and notify them of your request.

The media request must be in support of an academic course taught during the standard school year.

If the media will be purchased in support of a Summer Session class, use their Course Support program instead (see below).

  2. Fill out and submit a UIIP minigrant application form.

  3. Obtain approval from the Teaching Resources Center.

  4. Purchase the media using your departmental account.
If you do not have a source for purchasing the video, contact the TRC which has a collection of print and online resources that you can review.

  5. Use the media in your class.

  6. For reimbursement, deliver the media, your payment receipt, and the signed minigrant form to the TRC (17 Wellman).
The TRC will then reimburse your department account in full for the purchase (up to $500). The information will be entered into the database and the media delivered the to the Media Distribution Lab where it will be shelved in the general collection.
The media will then be available from the permanent collection for all UC Davis instructors, and distributed through the Media Distribution Lab.

B. Summer Sessions Course Support program: (only available for courses taught during summer sessions)

  1. Contact the Summer Sessions office (summer-sessions@ucdavis.edu 530-757-3305) and notify them of your request. They will provide you with the proper paperwork and procedure to follow.

  2. Order the media and purchase it using your departmental account.
If you do not already have a source for purchasing the media, contact the TRC (trc@ucdavis.edu 530-752-6050) which has a collection of print and online resources that you can review.

  3. Submit the receipt and signed form to the Summer Sessions office.
The Summer Sessions office will then reimburse your department account for the purchase.

  4. Use the media in your class.

  5. If you would like to add the media to the permanent collection for use by all UC Davis instructors, please drop it off at the Media Distribution Lab at 1101 Hart Hall. Tell the Computer Room Consultant on duty that you would like to add it to the permanent collection.
