SCHEMATIC REPRESENTATION AND TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROGRAPHS OF CARDIAC MUSCLE. Study the relationship of the sarcolemma to the sarcoplasmic reticulum. Note the relative amounts and orientation of mitochondria and myofibrils. In the transmission electron micrographs, observe the long axis of the nuclei in parallel with the myofibrils. The T tubules are quite prominent. Sarcotubules do not show cisternae at edge of T tubule, rather they show only limited irregular expansions. T tubules arise at level of Z lines.
