On the slide, identify the chambers of the heart. Identify the pericardial cavity. What separates the liver from the pericardial cavity? In fish, the pericardial cavity is surrounded by firm tissues on the parietal surfaces. The transverse septum separates the pericardial cavity from the liver. Volume changes within the pericardium help suck blood into the sinus venosus from the large veins.
