Mammal Digestive System

The digestive system of mammals is presented in the following cards. Note how the 4 basic layers of the digestive tube (or alimentary canal) are found throughout all portions of the tube. After swallowing, food passes through the esophagus and is digested in the stomach, further digested and absorbed in the small intestine, dehydrated in the large intestine, with undigested material remaining in the rectum.
