View of Glia Cells

When neuron cell bodies are located in the central nervous system, they are found in areas termed gray matter. This particular area contains a neuron's cell body with its nucleus and associated cytoplasm (or perikaryon). The remainder of the gray matter contains supportive cells, which can be identified by the size of their nuclei, as astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, or microglia. The remainder of the gray matter is called neuropil. This contains projections from the neurons (dendrites) and the synapses from incoming axons, and cellular projections from the various categories of supportive cells. Identify the neuron and its nucleus and the supportive cells.
