Gross Anatomy of the CNS

The brain is organized so that different portions are specialized for processing particular types of information. Note that the brains of all 3 classes have basic similarities in their organization. The following section examines the sheep brain in most detail. Comparing the relative size of homologous structures in different species can provide a clue as to how important particular type of information is to that animal.
