INFUNDIBULUM OF BIRDS. The epithelium of the infundibulum is simple columnar epithelium with ciliated cells. There are simple glands at the base of the infolding of the epithelium. The egg spends approximately 15 minutes in the infundibulum, where it receives the first outer layer of dense albumen.
