VAGINA OF THE BIRD. The muscles in the wall are thicker than any other portion of the oviduct. Their purpose is to move the egg rapidly out of the reproductive system . The cells of the mucosa are pseudostratified columnar epithelium which secrete a waxy substance that forms the cuticle coating the shell.
