FISH OVARY AND FOLLICLES/EGGS. First, notice the lack of a medulla and the large cavity contrasting with various stages of oocyte development. Follicles have no fluid spaces. Eggs are released into the cavity in the egg sac and may stay within this and be transported to the outside via genital ducts. Conversely, some fish release their eggs into the pleuroperitoneal canal and they exit via a pore into the distal genital tract and outside.Various stages of egg resorption can also be observed. This process utilizes abundant macrophages.
