Low Magnification View

An enlargement of the ovary shows a very large corpora lutea supporting a pregnancy in this uterine horn. This corpus luteum developed from the site of ovulation when the ovum was released into the bursa. In the normal position, the tissue of the ovarian bursa at left would be wrapped around the ovary to form a sac. Rows of fimbria sweep the ovum down the oviduct (uterine tube)to the uterine horn.
