PNS, nerve (LM, Medium)

Structure List
Epineurium
Axons
A single nerve fiber
A single axon
Nodes of ranvier
Myelin of schwann cells
Blood vessels

The glial cells forming the myelin are not extemely long cells as are neurons. Therefore the myelin is periodically interrupted by nodes or junctions between two Schwann cells. Each of these Schwann cells has a nucleus but it is often out of the plane of the section. The action potential is regenerated at these nodes.
