Fish, gill (EM, Medium)

These scanning electron micrographs are high magnification views of the surface topography of gill filaments (No. 1) and lamellae (No. 2 ). The epithelial surface contains a corrugated pattern, as does fish epidermis. There are mucous cells associated with this epithelium.
