| On the cast of the efferent vessels which carry oxygenated blood away from the gills and to the body, identify the EFFERENT BRANCHIAL ARTERY, which is joined by the efferent arteries from the gill filaments. The dorsal aorta carries oxygenated blood caudally and gives off a long branch to the GI tract, called the COELIAC ARTERY, and continues as the CAUDAL ARTERY into the tail. It also gives off a branch to the kidney. The afferent vessels to the gills originate in the heart. |
