MINIGRANT SUPPORT FOR YOUR SEMINAR OFFERING

The Teaching Resources Center (TRC) makes UIIP Minigrant funds available to cover direct expenses, up to a maximum of $500.00, for each seminar offering. Please note the guidelines listed below for those expenses that can and cannot be covered.  It you incur expenses that do not meet the guidelines, we cannot reimburse you for them and you must find other ways of paying for them.

HOW TO GET  REIMBURSED:

  1. On, or prior to, the first week of the quarter in which the seminar is taught, a request for minigrant support, together with a tentative budget, should be sent to the Teaching Resources Center for approval.
  2. All charges must be made through your department, prior to your requesting reimbursement from the TRC.
  3. At the end of the quarter, forward copies of all receipts to the Teaching Resources Center.
  4. The purchase of videos follows the guidelines for all minigrants, we will not reimburse until the video is brought in to the TRC.

Bring the video(s), with a copy of the invoice, to the TRC.  The video becomes the property of the university and will be stored in Hart Hall. Arrangements for showing the video in the future can be made directly with the Media Distribution Lab (2-2911) in 1101 Hart Hall. 

APPROPRIATE EXPENSES

  1. Photocopying directly related to the seminar, up to a maximum of $100.
  2. Field trip expenses, e.g., Central Garage charges for rented vehicles, cost of admission to a theater or museum.
  3. Audio-visual expenses such as purchase of slides, transparencies and videos.
  4. Honorarium (maximum $250 per class) for an outside guest lecturer (cannot be a university employee).
  5. Reference material for the instructor, including books (up to $100).
  6. Light refreshments, not to exceed $100 per quarter.

EXPENSES THAT WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED

  1. Entertainment expenses, e.g., dinners, Campus Catering etc.
  2. Secretarial or other salary support.
  3. Routine costs normally borne by the department, e.g., telephone costs, mail, storehouse charges, etc.
  4. Books or other materials required of the students.
