This year SITT, Summer Institute On Technology in Teaching, will be offered from July 21 through July 25. Morning sessions will be comprised of panel discussions, demonstrations, and presentations focusing on innovations using technology in teaching. We are pleased to have Dr. David Merrill, from Utah State University speaking on “First Principles of Instruction”. Other morning sessions will focus on making the web and classroom presentations accessible for the disabled, demonstrating virtual laboratories, and showing scientific simulations, which have been designed to present a difficult concept in visual terms that are more accessible to students. Faculty will present their successes developing hybrid courses. There will also be presentations on concept mapping, designing for PowerPoint, and demonstrations of advanced PowerPoint techniques that make a difficult, complex subject easier to understand. The important area of assessment and evaluation of courses that include technology will also be presented. The morning sessions will be presented mostly by faculty who have worked on the specific projects.
In the afternoons we will have hands-on labs that cover web site development, PowerPoint, MyUCDavis, and image manipulation for a variety of uses. Other, more specialized labs will be offered in response to participants’ requests during registration.
