More Thoughtful Teaching Symposia: a forum to discuss effective teaching with faculty from across campus

The origins of "More Thoughtful Teaching": Many participating faculty members have noted that the UC Davis Summer Institute for Teaching and Technology helped make them more thoughtful teachers, but many have also asked for more opportunities to get together and share teaching experiences and expertise throughout the year. The "More Thoughtful Teaching" series is designed with just this in mind and as a complement to SITT, the Faculty-Mentoring-Faculty Program and other teaching-related workshops and discussion groups. If you would have suggestions for future workshops and panel presentations, please send them to us at: trc@ucdavis.edu.

Fear and Anxiety (Yours and Theirs) in Teaching and Learning, May 22, 2008

Teaching and learning in the academy can be fraught with fear and anxiety. At this symposium, we'll learn about student mental health from CAPS Director Emil Rodolfa and then discuss some of our instructional concerns over lunch. We'll be seated at tables themed by such discussion topics as distressed and distressing students, fear 2.0, course evaluation, and academic dishonesty. Please join us!
