The TRC Server is intended for use in teaching at the University of California, Davis, and is managed by the TRC, trc@ucdavis.edu (530) 752-6050, 17 Wellman Hall, 8-5 pm weekdays.

Responsibilities of INSTRUCTORS using the TRC server (for a printable version, click here.)

1. Create and edit their own Webpage files and place them on the Server by FTP Mac or PC. (Please ask, if not clear.)
2. Read list of sources of assistance under Instructional Media & Technology and copyright information.
3. Answer their students' questions about using the course website and/or refer them to appropriate resources such as IT-Express or resource sites and auto-tutorial courses on the Web. [We welcome questions from instructor-clients, but are not an appropriate resource for students.]
4. Always retain a current backup copy of their site(s). (Servers can and do crash.)
5. Respond in a timely manner to inquiries about when course material should or may be removed.
6. Agree to abide by relevant policies (see below) of the TRC and the UC Davis campus.

POLICY: If the performance of a server falls below acceptable levels, restrictions on its use will be developed by the TRC, such as elimination of low priority sites, restrictions on types and sizes of student home pages, and deletion of course materials in quarters when a course is not being taught. Instructors of affected sites would be notified before changes or deletions were implemented. The TRC reserves the right to maintain compliance of server files with server and campus policies.
