SITT 2008 banner

The UC Davis Summer Institute on Teaching and Technology (SITT) provides an opportunity each summer for campus faculty, lecturers, and graduate students to explore new approaches to great teaching. In 2008, we expect more than 100 participants to come together during the second week in September (8-11) for demonstrations, presentations, panel discussions, and workshops focusing on new tools, innovative teaching approaches, and computer-rich classrooms.

As we make plans for SITT 2008, we hope to harness the creativity and efforts of SITT veterans and new enthusiasts by asking all interested faculty to send proposals for a SITT panel, presentation, or afternoon learning lab in a computer classroom. This year's SITT will include sessions focusing on such pedagogical issues as teaching large lectures and evaluating student learning, along with reports from innovative faculty using the latest technologies. SITT will also offer workshops on SmartSite, the new UC Davis collaboration and course management system.

To find out more about the topics covered during past SITTs, go to the SITT 2006 or SITT 2007 websites, where there are links to documents, photographs, audio, and even video resources. Since SITT 2006 we have also created an ongoing series of "Mini-SITTs," More Thoughtful Teaching symposia that take place once each quarter. You may also want to check out the video archive of our ongoing speaker's series, Faculty Mentoring Faculty.
