The Chancellor's Teaching Fellowship Program at the University of California, Davis, provides talented and highly motivated graduate students with comprehensive college teaching experiences under the close guidance of campus faculty members.
Proposals are invited from graduate student - faculty member pairs for one-quarter collaborative teaching projects involving an undergraduate course that the faculty member is regularly scheduled to teach. The class, preferably one that the graduate student might be expected to teach as a newly appointed faculty member, must be offered during the 2008-09 academic year.
The Fellowship provides a stipend for the graduate student equivalent to that of a half-time Associate-In ($1,891.00 per month, subject to range adjustment) as well as a fee waiver for the quarter in which the course is taught.

Eligibility Application packet The project Selection procedure
ELIGIBILITY
Full-time graduate students in any doctoral or master degree program
are welcome to apply. Faculty mentors must be ladder-rank faculty or
lecturers with security of employment. As the stipend is a fellowship,
the quarter limit on TA appointments does not affect eligibility for
this award, nor does this award count toward the quarter limit on TA
appointments. However, the graduate student recipients may not hold any
other academic appointments during the quarter of their fellowships.
The
project’s purpose is to allow the teaching fellow an opportunity to
develop skills and gain experience in a variety of teaching activities
(e.g., lecturing, leading labs and discussions, constructing and
grading exams).
The project and the proposal must be a joint effort involving the prospective teaching fellow and faculty mentor. The fellow and the mentor should be actively involved in all aspects of planning, delivering, and evaluating the course.
Funding up to $500 may be requested for the development of course materials directly related to the team’s teaching plan. Include a detailed budget. If a major course revision or significant updating of course-related materials is envisioned (extending beyond $500), requests for support should be directed to the Undergraduate Instructional Improvement Program Committee.
SELECTION PROCEDURE

Committee, composed of representatives from the Graduate Council
Committee on Graduate Student Support and Welfare, the Academic Senate

representative. The Committee’s recommendations are forwarded to the
