Options for online communication
1. Set up a Automated Class Mailing List (ACML) through MyUCDavis.
Every night, the registrar will update the students on the list to match those registered in your class. Anyone on the list can email to the list and everyone on the list receives all emails. There is a delay between requesting the creation of the list and being able to use it.
2. Threaded Discussion:
This form of communication is similar to email bulletin boards / newsgroups like the Class Mailing List, but is Web-based, has more organization features, and allows faculty more options .MyUCDavis offers threaded discussions.
3. Chat rooms:
Use the Internet to connect people together in a live, real-time, typing session. This is very like a phone call. Useful if you are at a conference and want to hold office hours, useful to assign students to practice language skills or to collaborate on projects, and useful for inviting a guest 'lecturer' to interact with students. MyUCDavis offers chat.
